Dave Ford - Smart Soft

Abstract

I have been using and teaching GWT (Google Web Toolkit) since its inception and have recently used it to create a sophisticated, proof-of-concept application for a major car company. The most pronounced lesson from the experience was the productivity gain provided by GWT. Specifically: how quickly I was able to create a non-trivial, cross-browser AJAX application using GWT. Two other interesting lessons: the application runs and looks great. And it performs and scales better than its predecessor (orders of magnitude better). GWT represents the next wave of web toolkits, fully exploiting the power of the web. In this presentation, I will show you how to use GWT to create next generation web applications.
